'2011 ENTERPRISE BIRTHDAY/REUNION REVISITED'

From the three Co-Chairmen of the 2011 REUNION Stan Martin, Ray Godfrey and Bill Newby: Sorry in the delay in getting back to those who attended the '2011 BIRTHDAY/REUNION' but I had to order some more pins and that is not a over night possibility. Some have expressed their comments over the fact that pre-registered people got two bags and some others who shouldn't did also. Breakdown of communication from one end of the table to the other in my haste in trying to calm down and get people registered. My explanation of sorts went something like this: The person who did the registering and their guest goes in to a restaurant and order the exact same thing, yet the person doing the ordering gets a sirloin steak, baked potato, mixed vegetables, drink, dessert and coffee, while their guest is served a chopped steak, mashed potatoes and a glass of tea, yet when the bill is the delivered they both get charged $90. Now is this a fair deal? This is the first time in the 25 year history of the Association has the Reunion fee been broken up. Sure the welcome dinner was $20 per person and the Banquet was $45 per person, so where did the other $35 go. Well we had a contract for coffee [ cheapest price $45 per gallon] to pay for, bar for hospitality room [ if a certain amount of sales were not met we had to pay $75 per hour for the convince], bus rental was under contract at a set price [ until we were told that we had to get all visitors to the ship on Sunday, and on board at a stated time for the Memorial Service and 'Birthday Gala' on Monday but the company we had contracted three busses per day didn't have the fourth bus we need to perform this act so they had to go to another company who would not lower their prices for the use of their buses to the same as the contract company and was also told the we had to only run two busses on Tuesday in order to shut down visitation on Tuesday for the last bus to leave 'NO' later than 1600 (4:00 PM). Then there was also the Bags, repayment for the pins and if any money was left over was to go back to the Association for the 'COIN'S'. The purpose of this story is that if you are planning on attending a USS ENTERPRISE ASSOCIATION REUNION, pay the registration fee the host and or host's have figured out to give you the best time for the event as well as for any side events you need to register for. As of this date 28 people have returned their bags and bus bracelets for redistribution. Can not afford to place another order for either, but we do have as many pins as we could get, With this said, as usual this is strictly on the Honor system of checking one if you didn't pay the full registration fee, please check the number of items you failed to get at registration and mail to me: Bill Newby P.O. Box 307 Kingston, TN 37763-0307 ____ Bag [note only one until the 28 are gone]. ____ Bracelets [only one until the 28 are gone]. ____ Pin ____ Coin If you were unable to attend the Reunion you may go to the Ships Store Sight and buy a Commemorative Coin and maybe at a later date when all orders have been filled there may be some pins in the store.
